Wow, what a Masters !
April 13, 2009 - Steve Anderson
The Masters lived up to it's reputation as the greatest tournament on earth yesterday with an amazing finish that found several players with a chance to win. Phil amazing front 9 of 6 under par was incredible as was Tiger's charge. Kenny Perry, Chad Campbell and the eventual winner Angel Cabrera all stayed solid and it was anyone's game right up until the end. Perry sort of gave it away as he was 2 up with only 2 to play and bogeyed the last two holes. Can't do that and win a major. Cabrera certainly showed that you should never give up with great par saves at the end. It was exciting good to see that the course was again set up for eagles and birdies.
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour will be hosting the SW Florida Junior Challenge at River Hall on May 9-10. It's the first time the Hurriane tour is coming to our area and I encourage juniors to come out and play. The Hurricane tour is one of the best run organizations for juniors and will offer several different age groups for both boys and girls. Call Mario Conte, the tour director at 904 379-2697 for informaiton and details. If you've never played River Hall, it's an amazing course with some Masters like putts and a lot of fun. The 36 hole stroke play event is a great way for area juniors to compete in a tournament setting and have a chance to play with top juniors in their age group. I hope to see you all out there.
See you next week,
