| | Golf and BaseballJuly 28, 2009 - Steve AndersonFor all you golfers that are also baseball fans, I've got a really neat event coming up on August 6th at Hammond stadium where the Ft. Myers Miracle play. This past spring I was my 9 year old sons baseball coach for his little league team. One practice day a brought some golf clubs and balls out to the field and hit fly balls to them. If the kids could catch a golf ball then they could certainly catch baseballs. They loved it. Then I hit some shots from home plate over the fence. The little league is only 200 feet and I can hit a golf ball upwards of 300 yards! The couldn't believe how far a golf ball went. I contacted the Miracle folks to tell them about the idea of hitting balls during one of their games so they invited me to come 'try out' and they thought it was pretty neat too. So, thursday August 6th, at 6:30 before the game starts, I'll be at home plate hitting balls over the fence, hitting to targets, hitting plastic balls into the crowd for the kiddies, etc. We may have a Miracle outfielder out there running them down too and it should be a lot of fun. The Miracle folks are extending a great offer too. Your ticket, Miracle ball cap, hot dog and soda are only $10.00 !! Come on out to watch the golf show and the game afterwards and I'd look forward to meeting a lot of you. Steve Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article. Post a Comment | |
