Steve Luongo is a world renowned drummer, producer, songwriter, visual artist and director of the John Entwistle Foundation. His original mixed-media digital art will be on display at HOWL Gallery during April.
The artwork is created digitally and then produced and finished using the artists unique hybrid technique. The final pieces feature liquid graphics and colors that can only be achieved with modern computers, combined with painterly surface texture seen on traditional oil and acrylic paintings.
Since appearing on the local Fort Myers art scene, Luongo's hybrid art has received tremendous praise and has been purchased by collectors both locally and internationally.
The opening reception will be held during Art Walk on Friday, April 2, from 6-10 p.m.
The reception will feature live drumming by Luongo on the HOWL back patio with supporting band Cosmic Mountain from 8-10 p.m. Also, inside the gallery a digital projector will feature live footage of Luongo performing from past tours.
Luongo has been a touring professional drummer and recording artist since the age of 13. The most prolific and significant of all was his work was with the late John Entwistle, the legendary bass guitarist for The Who. The two musicians became the best of friends and Steve produced, performed, co-wrote and toured with The John Entwistle Band until John's death in 2002.
It was Luongo that wrote and delivered the eulogy at John Entwistle's memorial service in London and produced and directed the documentary film, An Ox's Tale: The John Entwistle Story. He has also toured with Leslie West/Mountain, Alan Parsons, Todd Rundgren, Heart's Ann Wilson and played in one off recording sessions or performances with Richie Blackmore, Joe Walsh and Billy Squier.
