Permits down from March for housing

During April, contractors pulled permits to build 30 single-family houses collectively valued at $5.1 million in unincorporated Lee County. That compares to 51 permits issued in March and 39 issued in April 2009, according to the Lee County Department of Community Development.

Also in April, permits were issued for four multi-family units, compared to four in March and two in April 2009, according to Mary Gibbs, Lee County Community Development Center.

Twelve permits were issued in April for new commercial buildings collectively valued at $7.6 million, compared to $796,800 in March and $2.7 million in April 2009.

Lee County Community Development oversees planning, zoning, development, and building services, environmental review, building inspection and code enforcement for the unincorporated areas of Lee County.
