Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida Inc. will hire approximately 24 part time employees for two new stores that will open in the fall. The agency will host a job fair at the Career and Service Center in Fort Myers (4150 Ford Street Extension) on Wednesday, September 8 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Goodwill's new Retail & Donation Centers will include a large store at Arbor Towne Square, near the intersection of Treeline Ave. and Colonial Blvd. Goodwill also seeks employees for a new bookstore/donation center on McGregor Ave. in South Fort Myers.

"Providing employment has always been a vital part of Goodwill's mission," said Bob Haenggi, Goodwill's vice president of Career Development Services. "We're pleased that despite a struggling economy and high unemployment rates, Goodwill can continue to offer employment opportunities in our community."

Available positions will include cashiers, sales associates, and merchandise processors. Goodwill anticipates interviewing between 100-150 retail applicants during the job fair.

"We're looking for employees that can provide an amazing customer experience to our shoppers and donors," said Jennifer Swift, Goodwill's senior director of retail operations and e-commerce. "Our ideal employee believes in Goodwill's mission, has a strong work ethic and a friendly, helpful demeanor; and has the skills to work in a constantly changing environment."

Applicants for all positions are advised to bring a recent resume, references, and any other materials necessary to display their qualifications. Applicants should be prepared to fill out a paper job application and speak with an interviewer for approximately 20 minutes. They may also be required to complete a short questionnaire.

Qualified applicants may be asked to participate in a second interview, to be held before the end of September.

Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida, Inc. serves Hendry, Glades, Lee, Collier and Charlotte counties. Revenue earned at Goodwill's 24 Southwest Florida Retail & Donation Centers supports programs and services for people with disabilities and other disadvantages. These programs include job training and placement services, housing, transportation assistance, youth mentoring, and the LIFE Academy Charter School.
