Senior Citizens Center April events
The following calendar of events of the Lehigh Acres Senior Citizen Center on Plaza Drive is prepared by Teresa Perkins, the Center’s manager.
Every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., Bingo with large jack pots. Non-members are welcome.
Every Wednesday from 2: 15-3:45 p.m., dance. Don Falkner will sing on March 30.
Monday to Friday from 9 to 11 a.m., free blood pressure checks for members.
Friday, April 8 and 29, 1:30 to 4 p.m., tea dance.
Fridays, April 1 and 15, Karaoke and Dance. On April 15, Karaoke will begin at 2:30 p.m.
April 4 at 11:30 a.m., Lunch Bunch. Southwest Florida Fair Tax Educational Association representative will speak on Fair Tax. Fountain Crest will sponsor the lunch.
April 7 at 9 a.m., Diabetic Group.
April 7 at 11:30 a.m., Picnic at the Center. (Members must sign up in advance).
April 7 from 7-9 p.m., Dance with the Chadburns, $4 for non-members and $3 for members
April 13 at 11:30 a.m., Hot Dog Day. Members sign up in advance
April 14 at 9 a.m., Doctor’s Breakfast. Oscar Gamble, director of the Rehabilitation. Dept. at Lehigh Regional Medical Center will speak on balance. LRMC is sponsoring speaker and breakfast.
April 14 at 1 p.m., Movie Day. Sommersby will be playing.
April 15 from 1:30-2:30 p.m., John Timpanelli will entertain with song and comedy.
April 18 at 11:30 a.m., Lunch Bunch. Comfort Keepers will speak on wellness for living. They will sponsor the lunch.
April 21 at 12:30 p.m., April Birthday Party. Members must sign up.
April 21 at 1:30 p.m., “horseracing.”
April 21 from 7-9 p.m., dance with LeDeux, $4 for non-member and $3 for members.
April 22, closed for Good Friday.
April 23 from 2-4 p.m., Immokalee Casino Trip. Sign up at travel desk.
April 26 at 10:30 a.m. Meet-‘n-Eat. Meet at center and carpool to “Bahama Breeze.” Must sign up in advance.
April 27 at 9 a.m. Pancake Breakfast. Members must sign up in advance.
April 28 at 9 a.m. Doctors Breakfast, Thomas Camp, director of Cardiopulmonary Dept. at LRMC will speak on pulmonary rehabilitation. Sign up in advance. LRMC sponsors breakfast.
April 28 at 1 p.m., Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Ice Cream Social for Mother’s Day. Sign up a week in advance.
Daily classes are offered in different areas. The Senior Center features line dancing, bocce, creative writing, harmonica, discussion group, multiple card games, Swedish weaving, tatting, needlework-many types, punch needle, woodcarving, stain glass, plastic art craft, simulated bowling, sewing for beginners or advanced, pine needle baskets, art (all mediums), weight loss group, walking, make a teddy bear class, craft class, exercise classes, quilting, ping pong, beginner and intermediate computer classes.
Join the Entertainment group and perform skits and sing. The Center also features the Golden Shell Boutique which is open to the public. On sale are clothes and a multitude of other items for a great price. There is also a single’s and social group that plans activities for the weekends. New classes offered are also for seniors, ballroom dance lessons and their 5000 Year Leap History Class. They are discussing how the U.S. Constitution was formed. The Senior Center welcomes anyone 50 or older.
