Postal Pointers: Job searching: Send a thank you note

Handwritten notes always have made a difference in the business world. Mom was right. Thank you notes -especially those that are handwritten and personalized - really do matter. Employers have been known to make a final decision between two qualified candidates based on who sent a thank you note.

While most people in the U.S. continue to communicate using text messages and e-mail, handwritten notes may be poised for a comeback.

That’s one of the findings in a recent study of the greeting card and stationery market, as reported by the National Retail Federation.

There’s a small but growing segment of consumers who recognize the unique value and power of a handwritten letter or personalized note. People are finding that a handwritten note is the “ultimate way” to connect with those who really matter to them. One might have 350 friends on Facebook, but only a handful that really count.

They’re the ones who more people in the Facebook generation are reaching out to with a personalized, handwritten greeting.

Business owners looking to grow their business will discover that a handwritten thank you note will go a long way. There’s nothing better than receiving a thank you note for your business, whether it was a $2 or $200 sale. Eighty percent of any business owners revenue comes from 20 percent of the existing customers.
