To The Editor:
I remember D-Day and World War II, a unit of Army Rangers called the Timber Wolves.
This group sustained a 95 casualty rate on D-Day during the invasion.
I remember a single Marine on Guadalcanal, who killed 300 Japanese even though his buddies in his fox hole were all killed. He was also blinded.
Pride of the Marines, a movie was made about Al Schmidt from Philadelphia.
I remember two other wars, Korean and later the peace keeping and Vietnam and our Green Beet heroes.
I remember the 101st and 82nd victories and losses of this elite parachute unit.
Now we have the Delta Force and the Navy Seals with their quick response units.
With pride for all these highly training units, I cannot help but to ask, where do we get such loyal, patriotic volunteers for our all-voluntary Army?
We are truly a blessed nation because of their dedication to serve God and Country.
