To The Editor:
I have learned that marriage is only between a man and a woman; therefore I have a very difficult time, as many people do, to see and to accept two men and two men as leaders of a family,.
At the same time, I feel bad when people are discriminated against and treated as a second class citizen because of their gender, race, color, culture and where they are in society because of their choices.
We all make bad choices in our traveling in life. We learn our lessons and do our best not to make the same mistakes again.
We are all human beings. We are not perfect. We need to respect each other and try our best to get along with each other no matter who they are.
We live in a complex world surrounded by complex people and, for me, the only way to find joy and be happy is loving and getting along with everybody.
About same-sex marriage – for me, the only thing that matters is to see people happy and please God. I know the Bible is against the lives of gays and lesbians, but in the 10 Commandments I don’t read anything against same-sex marriage; therefore, I don’t think a loving God will be against it.
God said “Love one another” and that’s what gays and lesbians are doing.
Besides, God is the only one who has the right to judge everybody and God will do just that at judgment time. Meanwhile, everybody has the right to be treated as a human being and be respected.
I have heard that when a gay partner goes to the hospital, he or she is denied to see their gay partner because they are not considered as family to each other. Therefore, something has to be done.
As a matter of fact, I am glad that they want to get married and take marriage seriously because most of the so-called “normal” people don’t.
Most people get married for convenience or just for show.
After being in an unhappy marriage for 12 years, I don’t blame anyone for marrying and loving the person they choose to spend the rest of their lives with, hopefully, whether it is a man or a woman.
According to some gays and lesbians, they are here to adopt and take care of the millions of orphan children who are abandoned by men and women, but gays and lesbians cannot do that because in many cases, society doesn’t allow them to adopt children.
Society would rather have children suffer and grow up without love. Many times the system puts children in foster homes where they are abused in many ways and mistreated.
I was a single mother who raised my three children all alone. I wish I had someone to help me. It was very hard, very hard.
I hope and pray that no one has to raise children all alone. Thanks to God I survived and raised three productive and taxpaying children.
Anyway, I don’t know if same-sex marriage is the answer, but I do believe gays and lesbians have rights as human beings and must be treated with respect and consideration and give them the rights they need to love each other and adopt the many millions of orphan children who desperately need a home and to be loved.
Many of them also believe like I do - no sex outside of marriage. Therefore, they need God’s blessings to do what is right.
In concluding, I hope this letter touches people’s hearts to love everybody and respect our differences so we all can enjoy a more peaceful and loving world.
We all have to do our part. Always remember these wise words of “Love worth finding Ministries – “I am only one! But I am doing the best I can with what I have and where I am.”
For the Spanish population, “Entre Gustos y colores, no discuten los doctores.”
Dios nos ama a todos y quiere que nosotros tambien amemod a todas sin tartar mal a nadie. God bless you all – Quie Dios Los Vendiga.
