To The Editor:
Are you or a family member on Florida’s Medicaid program?
Are you unemployed and need to apply for Medicaid?
Are you working for low pay and no benefits and need Medicaid?
Are you in a nursing home and without significant assets?
These are among the groups who depend on Medicaid. Florida Gov. Scott’s new law will force Medicaid recipients into Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs), which will receive bonuses for denying care. In order to implement the law, Florida must get a waiver from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Stop this law from going into effect. Contact the Department of Health and Human Services and tell them that the proposed changes would reduce benefits. Tell them you want them to disapprove the requested waiver.

Florida Senate President Mike Haridopolos claims that this bill is bipartisan, but not one single Democrat voted for it. This is a bad bill, misrepresented to the people, and does not deserve support.
