On Saturday, July 16, The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center will host a Jazz Jam Session with David Pringle on piano, Chris Strom on drums, and Kevin Mauldin on bass. The performance will take place during Music Walk, beginning at 7 p.m. The Art Center is located in the River District, downtown Fort Myers, at 2301 First Street.
Kevin Mauldin began playing bass at 13, in the Memphis City Schools system. He got his bachelor of arts in music degree from Memphis State University and then a master of music degree in instrumental performance from Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. He then won the position of principal bass in the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera Association, keeping his improvisational skills by mixing with the local jazz scene there. After Chattanooga, Mauldin began his career in Naples playing in the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra (1990 to now) and the University of Miami (2000 to 2010). He has kept in touch with the local jazz scene, playing with artists from Naples and Southwest Florida.
David Pringle was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. He was educated at George Heriot’s School and Glasgow University. On graduation he spent five years in Oslo, Norway, working as a professional musician while also teaching at the Oslo Conservatory of Music. For the last 25 years, Pringle has been employed as a session musician, arranger, musical director, and composer for both television and the recording industry. He has appeared on television for both BBC and ITV and is one of the most successful TV/Media composers in Great Britain.
