The Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce is looking for a new director to replace Joe Whalen, the present president and CEO, who has announced his resignation effective next month.
Nate Stout, a member of the Chamber search group, said the Search Committee "is actively working to find someone who would be an ideal match for Lehigh Acres."
"We are advertising nationally. But we are also looking locally in Southwest Florida, too, to see if there is someone interested in taking over the reins of the Chamber which is located at 25 Homestead Rd. in the shopping center on the corner of Alabama Rd.
It moved this year to that site from its longtime home on Lee Blvd., in a house converted to an office some years ago.
In its advertisements, it reads that a chief executive officer/president of the Lehigh Acres chamber of Commerce is being sought to fill a position "in a fast growing area of Southwest Florida."
This position oversees the Chamber's financial management, marketing, fundraising, event planning and program development. Ideal candidates will have previous leadership experience working for the benefit of the organization, membership and community.
The position pays between $25,000 and $35,000 per year plus commission for new memberships.
The posting will appear on the U.S. Chamber's website as well as with the Florida Association of Chamber Professionals.
The list of committee members is as follows: Joanie Jeannette, Lehigh Regional Medical Center; Nate Stout, CPA;
Joe Pearson, Get Fit With Joe; Mike Arcentales, State Farm;
