Drama classes for children to begin Sept. 15

August 29, 2011
Lehigh Acres Citizen

Starting Sept. 15, Mr. Holiday's School of High Drama and Over Acting will be presenting Acting for Life at the Sidney & Berne Davis Arts Center in downtown Fort Myers. Class is for ages 8 to 13 and will be for eight Thursdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

"Ever since Cheers and Seinfeld went off the air, Thursdays have been a great night for a fun, interactive and rewarding experience for children," says Shawn Holiday, who has been directing children's plays and teaching since 1998. "I found a great new location for my Thursday class this fall and I'm excited about bringing more educational programs downtown. We had a great camp at the Davis Arts Center this summer and it's a terrific place for anyone to find their own voice."

Acting for Life will be held on Thursdays at the historic Sidney & Berne Davis Arts Center, 2301 First Street in downtown Fort Myers. Class is for any youth ages 8 to 13 and begins Sept. 15. Diction, poise, teamwork, communication, creativity, problem solving, personal expression and responsibility are some of the valuable skills emphasized in this program. Cost is $110.

Shawn Holiday has taught youth classes and workshops for many organizations, including Southwest Florida Chamber of Commerce, BIG Arts, Canterbury School, United Arts Council of Collier County, Sunshine Elementary, Edison/Ford Winter Estates, First United Methodist Church, Florida Dept. of Juvenile Justice, Lee County Library System, and Lee County Parks and Recreation.
