Letter: Join others in Sept. 17 beautification event in Lehigh

September 14, 2011
Lehigh Acres Citizen

To The Editor:

The September 17 Beautification Event for the Business District of Lehigh Acres is almost here. This event is a wonderful way to join together and show we care about Lehigh Acres. The event is co-sponsored by Keep Lehigh Acres Beautiful and the Lehigh Acres Community Initiative. This will be our 24th co-sponsored event since 2009. During that period of time, 1,297 Volunteers have removed 43.76 tons of trash from various neighborhoods within Lehigh Acres.

On September 17, our focused area will include: Lee Blvd. from James St. to Gunnery Rd. covered by the American Legion; Lee Blvd. from Gunnery to Sunshine covered by East Lee High School ROTC Cadets; Lee Blvd. from William to Leeland Heights covered by the Lehigh Acres Rotary Club.

These groups are part of the Adopt-a-Road program and have consented to cover their specific areas on that day.

We are hopeful that the remaining groups will provide sufficient volunteers to cover the business area of Homestead, 1st Street from Lee Blvd. to Sunshine, and the 23rd Street corridor.

If you have not yet committed to volunteering during this event and would like to, contact George Szymanksi at 239-303-1337.

Again, Saturday, September 17 - 8 to 11 a.m. The staging area is located in the Walmart parking lot by the gas station near the Goodwill trailer.
