Defenseman David Fischer signed with the Florida Everblades Tuesday, returning for his second season with the team.

Fischer, 23, tallied 29 points (3g, 26a) and finished with a plus-12 rating in 64 appearances last season.

Prior to joining the Blades, the 6-foot-3, 190-pound blue liner was a four-year starter at the University of Minnesota where he registered 38 career points (6g, 32a) in 157 games.

"We are happy to have David back with us this season," said Everblades coach Greg Poss. "He was one of our best defenseman last season, and is a big contributor on the power play and penalty kill. From a development standpoint, we look forward to seeing him improve here in his second professional season."

The Minnesota native was a first-round selection (20th overall) of the Montreal Canadiens in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. While playing for Apple Valley High School, Fischer was awarded Minnesota's Mr. Hockey award in 2005-06, when he led the team and finished eighth in the state among defenseman in scoring with 39 points, including eight goals.

Individual game tickets for preseason (Oct. 7-8) and opening weekend (Oct. 14-15) on home ice remain on sale through Ticketmaster or the Germain Arena box office.
