To The Editor:
Due to the fact that Mike Swords' organization (Lehigh Acres Economic Development Board Inc.), a private non-elected organization has requested funding from the Lee County Commission in the sum of $200,000 and did not submit a development or action plan of what the money was for, we feel that since it is taxpayers' money that we all are stakeholders in your group and request that your books and records be open to the public for examination to show the sincerity of your mission.
We believe that you are an off-shoot of the failed incorporation group and we never found out how the $30,000 plus seed money was spent and how your organization is financed now to pay your office rent and salaries of your leader or leaders.
Could Mr. Swords also tell us the measure of his group's success over the past few years as to how many and the names of the new businesses his group has recruited to bring to Lehigh Acres?
Mr. Swords can email his response or better still publish it in the Lehigh Acres Citizen as a Letter to the Editor so we all can read it.
Are the meetings public and can anyone join the group?
