Hoist yer anchor, an' sail yer scurvy bilge rat to the 6th Annual Fort Myers Beach Pirate Festival!
Drink in the antics of the amazing Hot Flashz, a non-profit cast of women ages 45 and up. They perform at community events, private parties and charity fund-raisers all over Southwest Florida and will be at Fort Myers Beach on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 3 p.m.
The Hot Flashz mission is to raise money to send as many of Florida's seriously ill children as they can to Camp Boggy Creek. This camp, located in Eustis, Fla., and founded by the late Paul Newman, provides these children the opportunity to enjoy a fun-filled week at this state-of-the-art, medically equipped, traditional campground, completely free of charge.
You can experience a few golden days of piracy as Old San Carlos Boulevard is transformed once again into the pirate's haven better known as Tortuga on Columbus Day weekend, October 7 through 10.
It's all free to the public thanks to the generosity of their sponsors, although a "buck-n-ear" donation is requested at the gate. ($2.00 per person) For more information about the event go to www.fortmyersbeachpiratefest.com and to find out more about the Hot Flashz go to www.hotflashz.org.
