NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Despite falling to Belmont 1-0 in the regular season finale, the FGCU women’s soccer team clinched a share of the Atlantic Sun Conference regular season championship Sunday.

The Eagles finished the regular season 12-4-2 overall and a share of first place in the A-Sun with a 7-1-1 mark. The Eagles won the tiebreaker over ETSU and Jacksonville, which also shared a piece of the regular season crown. FGCU was awarded the No. 1 seed by going a combined 1-0-1 against ETSU and Jacksonville. As the top seed in their first-ever conference tournament appearance, FGCU receives a quarterfinal round bye and will host the A-Sun semifinal and championship games at the FGCU Soccer Complex Nov. 4-6.

The Eagles play the quarterfinal winner between (5) North Florida at (4) Belmont at 7 p.m. on Nov. 4. The other semifinal game at 4 p.m. sends (2) ETSU against the winner between (6) Mercer at (3) Jacksonville.

Sunday’s loss to Belmont ended the Eagles’ streak of nine straight shutouts and their 21-game conference unbeaten streak (18-0-3).
