Four Eagles scored in double figures as the FGCU women's basketball team knocked off previously undefeated Richmond, 81-67, in front of 1,123 fans Friday night at Alico Arena.
With the win, FGCU improves to 3-1 overall, while the Spiders fall to 4-1 on the season. The Eagles are now 2-0 against teams from the Atlantic 10 Conference.
The Green and Blue, who led the nation in three-point field goals per game last season, knocked down 10 trifectas on the night. Five different players made at least one trey for the Eagles, led by senior Courtney Chihil's 3-of-6 night.
Sophomore Sarah Hansen, the reigning College Sports Madness' Atlantic Sun Women's Basketball Player of the Week, finished with a game-high 20 points (all in the first half), to go with three boards, three steals and a pair of assists.
Senior Nicoya Jackson poured in 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor. Jackson also added six assists and three rebounds.
Chihil filled the stat sheet in her best performance of the season, with 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Senior Kelsey Jacobson, who is now just two points shy of becoming the fourth player in program history to score 1,00 career points, chipped in with 11 points.
Abby Oliver led the Spiders with 17 points and six rebounds, while Miah Register contributed 13 points and five rebounds.
The Eagles return to the court on Monday, Nov. 28 when they host the Warriors of Webber International (0-6 overall). Tip is set for 7:05 p.m. ET.
