The Mariner Tritons proved they can play for an extended period without their big man in the paint Friday night.

Senior Kendrec Ferrara got in early foul trouble and sat out most of the first half, but still contributed 15 points and eight rebounds toward the Tritons' 61-45 win over Cypress Lake at Frank Morris Gymnasium.

"We're proving we can play without him," said Tritons coach James Harris. "We even extended the lead and kept it a three-possession game with him on the bench."

Filling the gap were Donald Minto, who led the Tritons with 16 points, Romario Blissett with six rebounds and Rick Moore with five boards.

Auyoub Bouras topped all scorers with 19 points for the Panthers.

The Tritons (3-1, 1-1 district) visit crosstown rival Cape Coral on Tuesday.
