Memorial services will be held for Kevin Shea, 67, of Lehigh Acres, on Dec. 10 at 1 p.m. at the chapel of the Lehigh Acres Hope Hospice House at 1201 Wings Way off of Beth Stacey Blvd. Chaplain Charles "Chuck" Wester will officiate.
Shea died Nov. 29 at Gulf Coast Hospital in Fort Myers after suffering a massive stroke at his home over the Thanksgiving holiday.
He was the son of the late Laurence M. and Marguerite Shea of Lehigh Acres.
He was born in Washington, D.C., and graduated from American University with a bachelor of arts degree, and he and attended Western Reserve University in San Diego, Calif., and received his law degree and was admitted to the California Bar.
He served in the U.S. Navy for two years at the National Navy Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., and spent two years stationed in Guam.
Has was employed for several years with the Veterans Administration.
He is survived by a brother, Michael Shea of Gaithersburg, Md.; two sisters, Karen McKim of Rotonda West, Fla., and Rita P. Muria, of Seattle, Wash., and several nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the board of commissioner of the Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District. He was elected in 2010. His term would have ended in 2014. He was known as a community activist in Lehigh and wrote articles in area newspapers, including The Citizen, on fiscal responsibility in government.
Interment will be in the National Veterans Cemetery in Sarasota, Fla., with a private family ceremony.
