Senior Citizens Center events for January

Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. we have Bingo with large jack pots. Nonmembers are welcome.

Monday-Friday at 9-11 a.m. Free Blood Pressure checks for members.

Wednesdays at 2:30-3:30 p.m. Senior Zumba Cardio Class co-sponsored by Lehigh Rehabilitation. Free to all members.

Mondays at 10:30 a.m. Meet with the social club and plan trips for the weekends.

Fridays 1st and 3rd at 1:30-3:45 p.m. Karaoke and dance. Free to all members.

Fridays 2nd and 4th at 1:30-3:30 p.m. Dance. Free to all members.

Jan. 3 at 11:30 a.m. Undecorate Party (Assist in taking down the Christmas decorations) Must sign up in advance.

Jan. 5 at 9 a.m. Diabetic Support Group. Breakfast provided by Lehigh Regional Medical Center. (free)

Jan. 5 at 12 p.m. Pirates of the LASSC Dinner and Treasure Hunt Dinner is $4.50 and you must sign up in advance. Wear your best Pirate costume for the contest and enjoy a treasure hunt.

Jan. 9 at 11:30 a.m. Lunch Bunch. Firearms 101. Fountain Crest will supply free lunch.

Jan. 10 at 1 p.m. Meet the Candidates. Please come and learn about the candidates applying for the board.

Jan. 11 at 11:30 a.m. Hot Dog Day. $1.50 for Hot dog, chips and soda. Must sign up a week in advance.

Jan. 12 at 9 am. Doctors Breakfast. Dr. Ruiz will speak. The free breakfast will be provided by Lehigh Regional Medical Group. You must sign up in advance.

Jan. 12 at 7-9 p.m. Dance with "LeDeux."

Jan. 13 at 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Election for the Board. Please come and show your support.

Jan. 13 at 2:30 p.m. Open Board Meeting.

Jan. 16 at 9:30 a.m. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast and skit. Must sign up in advance.

Jan. 18 at 9:15 a.m. & 11:15 a.m. Immokalee Casino Trip. The fee is $15 and that includes your bus trip, $30 of free play and $5 food voucher.

Jan. 19 at 12:30 p.m. January Birthday Party. Free meal for Birthdays in January and $7.50 for spouse or significant other. You must sign up a week in advance.

Jan. 19 at 1:30 p.m. Horseracing. Only cost a $1 for three games. Great fun. All members are welcome to play.

Jan. 23 at 11:30 a.m. Lunch Bunch. Joe Jeckel, financial planner will speak on Veteran's benefits. Free to members but must sign up a week in advance.

Jan. 24 at 10:30 a.m. Meet-N-Eat. Meet at the center and carpool to Amazon Grill in Fort Myers. Must sign up in advance.

Jan. 25 at 9:30 a.m. Pancake Breakfast. Sign up in advance. Cost is $1.50.

Jan. 26 at 9 a.m. Doctors Breakfast. Dr. Michael Tucker will be speaking. Free breakfast provided by Lehigh Regional Medical Center. Must sign up in advance.

Jan. 26 at 1 p.m. Movie Day. Harry and the Hendersons. Sign up in advance for popcorn.

Jan. 26 at 7-9 p.m. Dance with the Chadburns.

Jan. 30 at noon. Beauty Secrets. Arvonne International will speak on health and wellness. There is no lunch but you can bring some muffins to share.

Many classes are offered. Our physically active classes are line dancing, exercise classes including Zumba, chair dancing, walking, bocce, shuffleboard, simulated bowling, dances, corn hole, ballroom dancing, ping pong and billiards.

Our creative classes are creative writing, discussion group, piano, Swedish weaving, tatting, needlework-many types, punch needle, woodcarving, stain glass, plastic art craft, sewing for beginners and advanced, pine needle baskets, art(all mediums), make a teddy bear class, craft class, beading and quilting.

Multiple card games such as Pinochle, Bridge, Cribbage, Hand and Foot, Yahtzee and Sheepshead are played daily.

We have beginners and intermediate computer classes followed by a computer art and Microsoft Word class. Join the Entertainment group and perform skits and sing. We have a Golden Shell Boutique which is open to the public.

Our social group plans activities and trips for the weekends. Our Tops weight loss group and Nutrition for Healthy Living class will help you balance your diet. The travel desk sets up trips to the Broadway Palm and Casino. We welcome anyone 50 or older. Join the center for $15 a year and enjoy the Lee County pool on Williams for an extra $10 a year. It will cost $2 a day for nonmembers for the center. Special events have other requirements; please inquire at the main desk.
