January 4, 2012
Lehigh Acres Citizen

It wasn't a buzzer-beater, but it might as well have been.

Michelle Gonzalez hit a three-point basket with 20 seconds remaining Tuesday night to lift Evangelical Christian to a 35-34 victory over Mariner in girls' basketball action.

The Tritons had battled and clawed to the brink of victory, leading by two points before Gonzalez's game-winner. The Tritons turned the ball over on their final possession with five seconds remaining.

The Tritons (1-17) travel to Lehigh Friday.
