The 55th annual Thomas Alva Edison Kiwanis Science and Engineering Fair and the 25th annual Thomas A. Edison Regional Inventors Fair will both be held on Saturday, January 14 at the Alico Arena, 10501 FGCU Boulevard South, Fort Myers (on the FGCU campus.)
More than 800 student projects will be on display, all of which represent the best efforts of budding scientists and inventors some of these projects will truly boggle the mind, promoters say.
Students from Lee and Charlotte counties in grades 6 through 12 will compete in the Science Fair while students from Lee, Charlotte and Collier Counties in grades K through 12 will be competing in the Inventors Fair.
Once the judging is complete the public is invited to view and marvel at the projects. The Inventors Fair should open to the public at noon and the Science Fair should be open for viewing at 2 p.m.
Beginning at 9 a.m., the Edison Discovery Village will be open to the public just outside of the Alico Arena. The Village will include exhibits and events of science interest including Florida Power and Light, Lee County Mosquito Control District and numerous other organizations. Florida Gulf Coast University will be conducting free tours of their facilities, labs and outdoor learning resources throughout the day.
