It took nearly a full half for the Mariner Tritons to adjust to playing on the artificial turf at Naples High Monday night.

When they finally did adjust, the Tritons pulled away for a 5-4 victory.

Naples led twice in the game, 1-0 and 2-1, but never again after the Tritons tied it 2-2 just before halftime.

"We kind of settled in after we tied it," said Tritons coach Martin Cardenas. "It took awhile to adjust to their turf, but the guys kept their composure."

Tim Thomas led the Tritons with three goals and Travis Pacheco added two goals. Pacheco assisted on two goals, Thomas and Tyler Till both had one assist.

Goalkeepers Jacob Olmstead made five saves in the first half for the Tritons while Alex Trujillo made two saves in the second half.

The Tritons bolted to a 5-2 lead in the second half before the Eagles slipped two shots into the net in the final 15 minutes. The Eagles scored their final goal with about three minutes remaining.

The Tritons (17-2-3) host Cape Coral Friday at Tony McKenna Field.

Estero 3, Ida Baker 0: Estero scored all three goals in the first half to defeat Ida Baker Monday.

"I thought we played pretty well in the second half," said Bulldogs coach Justin Aulls. "We had plenty of chances to even it up, but we're still a work in progress."

Mason Rosanti played his second straight game in the net, coming up with a dozen saves for the Bulldogs (5-8-6), who visit district rival Fort Myers Friday.

Ida Baker 2, Estero 1: Rachael Swisher and Maria Farella scored goals in the first half, but it took acrobatic goalkeeping by Amanda Kopale to preserve the victory for the Ida Baker Bulldogs Monday night.

"Our defense broke down and 12 of Kopale's 13 saves were big ones, acrobatic," said Bulldogs coach Dave Trepkowski. "I don't know if it was their speed that caused the breakdown, or what. It was an extremely physical game."

Farella scored the first goal off Swisher's corner kick. Swisher later scored her goal after a corner kick first caromed off a defender.

The Bulldogs (17-1-4) host Island Coast for senior night Tuesday.

Mariner 8, Cypress Lake 0: Freshman Holly Fritz scored three goals to lead Mariner to victory Monday over Cypress Lake.

Alejandra Muro-Solis chipped in with two goals while Megan Fritz, Emily Diroma and Sarah Peer each added one goal. Diroma and both Fritzes each had an assist.

Marisa Cardenas had two saves tending goal for the Tritons (17-3-2), who play at Cape Coral Friday.

Bishop Verot 6, St. John Neumann 0: Kelly Williamson and Lauren Cento scored two goals apiece to pace Bishop Verot past St. John Neumann Monday.

Kady Otzko and Cailyn Rizzo each added one goal. Assists came from Williamson, Cento, Otzko, Kelly Reynolds and Katie Sullivan.

Goalkeepers Chryssie Gibson and Rizzo combined for three saves.

The Vikings (10-2-2) play at Cape Coral Tuesday.
