Hammer is honors graduate at Aviation Operations School
Daren Michael Hammer of 2515 36th St. SW, Lehigh Acres, has graduated from the Army Aviation Operations Specialist School at fort Ruckers, Ala., on Dec. 9. He is a 2011 graduate of Island Coast High School in Cape Coral.
He entered the Army on Aug. 1 and completed his basic training at Ft. Jackson, S.C., on Oct. 13.
He then went to Aviation Operations Specialist School at Ft. Ruckers, Ala., where he finished as a distinguished graduate, honors graduate and he also received the physical fitness award.
Due to good conduct and these awards, Hammer was able to spend a week doing home town recruiting in Cape Coral. As an aviation operations specialist, Hammer will schedule and dispatch aircraft missions, maintain flight information, review and coordinate flight plans, execute overdue aircraft procedures, and assist crash rescue in emergencies.
Aviation operations specialists use aviation specific computer systems to perform real-time operations and administrative duties in both fixed base and tactical facilities to ensure flawless operations over all aviation spectrums..
They are the backbone of staff operations performing support functions within flight operations, tactical operations centers and S-3 Operations.
Hammer was also promoted to E-2 and has recently reported to Ft. Drum, N.Y., where he is a member of the Second Mountain Militia.
Hammer is the son of Earl and Doris Hammer of Lehigh Acres.
