To The Editor:
I just finished reading the article in The Citizen of a mother and the love for her child. I cannot help but cry, not for pity but rather in awe. Despite of what others say, her unconditional love keeps her going. Many would have given up years ago, but she strives and doesn't give up. I am appalled but not surprised that our government does not (financially) support her as needed.
I do not have a van, but I want to help. I do not have money, as I am a full time student- mother of three with a family owned business which is facing as bad times as the economy itself. However, in my business I would like to host an event, perhaps a charity. Where all funds and proceeds would go toward the minivan needed. As a community I'm sure we can come up with sufficient funds.
Also, I understand she doesn't have the ability to go pick up food from local pantries due to no ride. I will offer my time to pick food up for her until she is able to get a vehicle. Hopefully, your response will be that she has since received a vehicle, but if not please let me know how I can begin helping.
You can call the mother at 368-3181. They live at 602 Roosevelt Ave. - Ed.
