Mariner stuns Fort Myers, 57-55

By Staff | Jan 25, 2012

Fort Myers missed two three-point shots in the last seven seconds Tuesday night, giving Mariner a nailbiting 57-55 victory.

The Green Wave led early, but Mariner responded and took a double-digit lead in the second quarter only to have the margin cut to 33-29 at halftime.

The Tritons overcame a four-point deficit in the third quarter and nearly gave the game away by missing the front end of two one-and-one free throw chances down the stretch.

The Wave, however, could not take advantage and could not catch up.

Freshman Rodney Hunter connected on three three-pointers and finished with a game-high 23 points to lead the Tritons. Kendrec Ferrara added 11 points and eight rebounds.

The Tritons (17-5) play at Key West Saturday.
