Bishop Verot kicked off the final week of the regular season with a 72-54 romp at Port Charlotte Monday night.

Ricky Doyle led the Vikings with 21 points, 10 rebounds with Mason Taylor adding 19 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. Mark Wagner added 15 points.

The Vikings, who routed East Lake 66-45 Saturday, broke open a tight game on a 22-10 run in the second quarter, adding to the margin down the stretch.

The Vikings (19-4) play at Community School of Naples Thursday night.

Key West 68, Mariner 59: The Tritons ran into a worthy opponent Saturday, coming away with a nine-point loss at Key West.

The loss snaps a four-game winning streak for the Tritons.

Rick Moore, Rodney Hunter and Kendrec Ferrara kept the Tritons in the game with their offense, but the Conchs were equal to the task with three double-figure scorers of their own.

"They got out to a 10-point lead in the second quarter," said Tritons coach James Harris. "Hunter cut it to two at one point, but then they went back up by nine."

That's when Moore went to work, hitting back-to-back three-pointers near the end of the third quarter to put the Tritons in front for the first time since early in the game.

Key West built it back to a seven-point margin in the final period, but Moore hit back-to-back threes again to cut it to a single point. The Conchs (11-0), who outscored the Tritons 17-17 in the fourth quarter, opened the lead down the stretch to seal the victory.

Moore finished with a game-high 22 points. Hunter added 14 and Ferrara had a double-double of 11 points, 13 rebounds to go with three blocks.

The Tritons (17-6) play for the LCAC championship Wednesday against East Lee County. Mariner is 9-0 in the conference while East Lee has one loss.
