No charges have been filed in a traffic crash involving a Cape Coral woman and a North Fort Myers man, who died last week from his injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol was notified Thursday by Lee Memorial Hospital staff that Calvin D. Fredette, 85, had died as a result of the injuries that he sustained last month in a traffic accident at U.S. 41 and Avenida del Vera.
Charges were pending due to the critical injuries to Fredette, FHP officials reported at the time. FHP reported Tuesday that no charges were filed.
On Jan. 26, Fredette was traveling westbound on Avenida in a 2002 Acura when he came to 41. According to the FHP, Fredette tried to travel across 41 to head southbound, but he failed to notice a 2004 Toyota approaching.
The Toyota, driven by Annanie Baptiste, 59, was traveling northbound.
The FHP report states that the front of the Toyota struck the left side of the Acura. Both of the vehicles came to rest within the inside lanes of 41.
Fredette was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital, along with Baptiste. Baptiste's injuries from the crash were listed as minor by the FHP.
As of Tuesday, she had been discharged from the hospital.
Fredette and Baptiste were wearing seat belts, the FHP reported.
The accident was not alcohol related.
