Thanks to all for a great turn out for our first Community Action Forum that was held at the East County Regional Library on Tuesday, Feb. 7. There were over 120 in attendance to hear Commissioner Frank Mann talk about Lehigh Acres.
We heard from Jim Boback, Chairman of the Lehigh Acres Economic Development Board, Gary Bright, the new CEO/President Greater Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce, Rick Anglickis, Chairman CAC/MPO for the Lehigh Acres Community Council, John Talmadge, Past President and CEO of Social Compact Inc., Kathie Ebaugh, Lead Planner for the Lehigh Acres Redevelopment Plan and Bill Williams with the Estero Council of Community Leaders.
The collective concensus of those in attendance was to support the Lehigh Acres Plan and become a part of the Lee County Budget process to help promote our community. It was noted that Lehigh Acres constitutes one-third of the County's unicorporated area with 90,000 people and that we could be considered the 18th largest city in Florida, and that we are the size of Tampa in land mass.
The evening was hosted by the Lehigh Acres Economic Development Board who collaborated with the Greater Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce and the Lehigh Acres Community Council to help form "One Voice" for Lehigh Acres through the many circles of influence in our community. We hope that everyone will come to the Library on March 10 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and see the great plan the County is helping to create for our future.
