The General Woman's Club of Lehigh Acres is holding a Spring Fashion Show and luncheon on Saturday, April 14 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

It will be held just outside Lehigh Acres at the Colonial Country Club. Tickets are $20. No tickets will be sold at the door.

This gala fashion show has become one of the more popular womens' events in Lehigh and tickets usually sell fast. You can make reservations by calling Maralyn Waline at 368-4222 or Mary Beck at 368-6076.

Reba Money, chairman of the selection of models, says this will be one of the better shows with the latest fashions being provided by Belks at the Gulf Coast Town Center.

"We have added something this year," said Money. "The eight models will be escorted to the modeling area by four men. Each year we have a fashion show and it is one of the more popular events of our club. All proceeds go to proving college scholarships to Lehigh senior graduates and to single moms and dad who live in Lehigh," she said.

The models this year include Helga Newman, Ingrid Spies, Linda Antkiewicz, Laura Milenkevich, Doris Walinski, Barbara Fusco, Daphne Hopkinson and Betty Mitchell.

"Our models are all from Lehigh and are members of our club," Money said.

The escorts who will be participating in the fashion show include Ed Gauthier, Rob Antkiewicz, Al Iannozzi, and Maka Eale, Money said.

The annual fashion show and the annual Christmas Ball are the two major events held by the local club.

She said also new this year at the fashion show will be raffles and "a lot of nice prizes."

Maralyn Waline is chairman of the fashion show.

"We have a great menu this year. It includes crusted pecan chicken with garlic mashed potato and for dessert a Peanut Butter Jelly Tirmis. A raspberry dressing is also included with a salad," Money said.

"Our fashion show will feature spring casuals and "dressy" outfits. The show is open to the whole community, not just members of our club," she said. "The women can bring their husbands if they want."

Sue Thompson is president of the club.

Money said the club of 70 women has dedicated itself to helping others go to college.

"We really welcome new members. Dues are only $15 a year. The Lehigh Acres General Woman's Club meets from September through May," Money said.
