Island Coast shuts down Ida Baker

Island Coast scored four runs on passed balls or wild pitches en route to a 7-0 District 6A-13 victory over Ida Baker Tuesday night.

Cole Ondrejka and Devin Siriani contributed two hits apiece to back Gators pitcher Tanner Renegar's six-inning effort allowing two hits while striking out four.

Skylar Holt had two hits for the Bulldogs.

The Gators (11-8, 5-2 district) and Bulldogs (1-5 district) play a district rematch Thursday at Baker.

Mariner 5, Lemon Bay 0: Jason Carmichael pitched five solid innings, striking out 8, to lead the Mariner Tritons to a 5-0 victory over host Lemon Bay Tuesday evening. The Tritons put together two, two-run rallies, one in the third and one in the seventh, to secure the win.

Leading the Mariner offense were Louis Ferrer, who went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and Charlie Klein, who went 1-for-4 with a two RBI double.

The Tritons are now 15-6 on the year and host Cypress Lake Thursday.

Cape Coral 8, Lehigh 4: Pounding out 10 hits, including two home runs, the Cape High Seahawks downed visiting Lehigh, 8-4, Tuesday evening.

Brandon Marshall picked up the pitching win for the Cape, which now stands 13-5 on the year.

Leading the 'Hawks offense were Luke Spangler with a home run, Marshall with a home run and Lewis Spangler with two hits.

The Seahawks return to action Thursday venturing to North Fort Myers.

Ida Baker 8, Island Coast 1: Madelynne Peres pitched a no-hitter, striking out 16 and allowing just three walks to lead Ida Baker past Island Coast Tuesday on the Gators field.

Peres upped her pitching park to 8-1, while leading the Bulldogs to a 12-1 record. Dana Ruff suffered the loss for Island Coast.

Providing the offensive punch for the Bulldogs were Alexis Ross with three hits, Jessica Nuccio with two doubles, Brittney Benvie with two hits and Sierra Myers with an inside-the-park home run.

The Bulldogs return to action Thursday when Lehigh invades.

Bishop Verot 9, Cape Coral 2: Bishop Verot scored in every inning but the second to defeat visiting Cape Coral Monday evening. On the night the Vikings collected five hits and committed three errors. The Seahawks slugged nine hits, but committed six errors.
