It took another last at-bat rally, for the second game in a row against a Collier County opponent, but the Ida Baker Bulldogs pulled off a 4-3 victory Friday night over Barron Collier in the Region 6A-13 semifinals at Baker.
Entering the bottom of the seventh inning trailing 3-1, the Bulldogs started their rally with the bottom of the batting order. After back-to-back singles, Tuesday's rally hero Louie Ross drew a walk to load the bases.
Sierra Myers was hit by a pitch to force in a run and close the deficit. Deniece Bent slapped a two-run single to drive in the tying and game-winning runs.
"I don't know how many more games I can take like this," said Bulldogs coach Jim Schlotter. "From here on out I expect tough one-run ballgames."
The win serves as payback for Collier, which knocked the Bulldogs out of last year's regionals in the first round.
Ross and Lacie Ellithorpe had two hits apiece to lead the Bulldogs, who outhit the Cougars 9-6.
Pitcher Maddy Peres (15-1) allowed three runs on six hits while striking out nine.
The Bulldogs (20-1) will host a Region 6A-3 final game at 7 p.m. Tuesday against Pembroke Pines Charter.
