Russell A. Jones, 73, of Lehigh Acres, died Monday, May 14, 2012, with his family by his side. He was born Sept. 17, 1938, in Boston, Mass., the son of Thomas and Mary Ann (MacDougall) Jones and the proud stepson of Eugene Walton.
During his work life, he was fortunate to have a number of careers that were as varied as the people he touched along the way.
After completing duty in the U.S. Air Force, he became an assistant director in television advertising, later forming his own production company and becoming a member of the Director's Guild of America.

Along the way, he served as a volunteer for the Irvington, N.Y., fire department and was affiliated with the Modern Woodmen of America.
He enjoyed people, and those who knew him were luckier for the experience, his family said. In that sense, it only seems fitting that his final job was providing security at the Seminole Casino in Immokalee.
He was a lifelong avid fan of the Red Sox and all Boston sports teams. He also enjoyed hobbies such as collecting coins and was frequently seen playing the game of golf.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Caroline (Smith) Jones; son, Russell G. (Julee) Jones of Sandgate, Vt.; daughter, Dorothy A. (Felix) Reed of Lehigh Acres; four granddaughters; and a stepgranddaughter.
He was a resident of Lehigh Acres for the past 12 years and has numerous neighbors, co-workers and friends among the people he loved dearly.
A memorial gathering in his honor was held Monday, May 21, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Lehigh Acres, at 507 N. Sunshine Blvd. The Rev. Stephen Bowe celebrated a memorial service, with military honors immediately following the service.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Anderson-Patterson Cremation and Funeral Services, at 2701 Lee Blvd., Lehigh Acres.
