By Staff | Jun 15, 2012

Fort Myers Miracle outfielder Oswaldo Arcia has been added to the Florida State League All-Star Game Home Run Derby Saturday at Charlotte Sports Park.

The long-ball contest preceeds the 51st annual FSL All-Star Game at the home of the Charlotte Stone Crabs in Port Charlotte. The derby starts at 5:30 p.m.

Arcia has seven home runs this season and is hitting .314 with 31 RBI. The 21-year old slugger has hit 15 home runs in 113 career games with the Miracle.

The most recent Miracle representative in the Home Run Derby was Chris Parmelee, who won the title in 2009 over St. Lucie Mets outfielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis.

Eight players have been named to participate in the derby, which features two rounds of 10 outs apiece. Every swing is either a home run or an out. Players with the highest home run total advance to the finals.

Other hitters representing the South Division are: outfielder Marcell Ozuna (15) of the Jupiter Hammerheads, outfielder Cory Vaughn (12) from the St. Lucie Mets, and shortstop Derek Dietrich (6) from the host Charlotte Stone Crabs.

Representing the North Division, are: infielder Greg Rohan (11) and outfielder Nelson Perez (11) from the Daytona Cubs, second baseman Ryan Schimpf (7) of the Dunedin Blue Jays, and outfielder Avisail Garcia (7) of the Lakeland Flying Tigers.

Miracle pitchers Pat Dean and Ricky Bowen, catcher Josmil Pinto, infielder Daniel Santana and Arcia play for the South Division team in the game itself.
