George Patrick Rattiger Jr., 64, of Lehigh Acres, died Saturday, June 9, 2012. He was born May 5, 1948, in Port Jefferson, N.Y., the son of George Patrick Rattiger Sr. and Irene (Baker) Rattiger.
He served his country in the U.S. Army, seeing combat operations in Vietnam. For much of his adult life, he lived in Pennsylvania and worked in the trucking industry.
In his spare time, he would usually be seen on his motorcycle. He rarely missed an opportunity to help any charity or fund-raiser sponsored by the riding groups he was affiliated with.

He was proud of his ancestry, which included Irish and Mohegan Tribe heritage.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Fay Schaefer-Rattiger; sisters, Georgeanne Irene Sharpling, Mildred Lillian (Martin Benjamin) Rattiger and Katherine Marie (John) York; brothers, Robert Theodore (Patricia) Rattiger and William Thomas (Philippe Milovidoff) Rattiger; and several children, stepchildren, nieces, nephews and family friends.
A visitation and memorial gathering was held Friday, June 15, 2012, in the Chapel at Anderson-Patterson Cremation and Funeral Services in Lehigh Acres. The Rev. Michael Porzio celebrated a memorial service and the U.S. Army conducted military honors.
