Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public's help identifying one or more people who broke into a trio of Lehigh businesses - all within just minutes of each other.
The spree started shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday, May 26, at the New Look Beauty Salon, at 5600 Eighth St. W. An employee and three of his friends were in the back of the salon when they heard the glass front door smash, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office. The group exited the salon through the rear door, went around the building and spotted a man, who left the area in a blue Chevy S-10 pickup truck.
The salon's register had been pried open, according to officials. However, the thief left empty handed as there was no cash inside the drawer.
PHOTO SPECIAL TO THE CITIZEN
Authorities are looking for the man pictured.
Exactly 10 minutes later, an unknown person threw a rock at the front glass door of the Subway, at 4316 Lee Blvd. While the door did shatter, the person did not appear to have entered the business.
A man then walked to Kongo's Pizza, located in the same shopping center, and hurled a rock at the business' front glass door. Officials said he entered the closed business at about 2:09 a.m., grabbed the cash register off of the counter and threw it on the floor, pocketing the $50 inside the drawer.
A surveillance camera caught a glimpse of the person, and detectives are hoping someone will be able to identify the man.
Anyone with information on any of the burglaries, which are believed to be related, are asked to call Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at (800) 780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
