Women's Club to meet

The Democratic Women's Club will hold its monthly meeting Saturday, Aug. 11, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn in Fort Myers. Lunch costs $18 for those who want to eat. To make reservations and for the menu selection, call 466-8381.

LRMC to host blood drive

The Florida Blood Center will have the Big Red Bus at the Lehigh Regional Medical Center, at 1500 Lee Blvd., on Thursday and Friday, July 19-20, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Pruning next topic at garden club meeting

The Lehigh Acres Edible Gardening Exchange presents this month's guest speaker, Greg Int-hout. He will teach attendees how to prune plants, plus how make more plants from existing ones.

The meeting will be held Thursday, July 19, at 5:30 p.m. at the Veterans Park Recreational building, at 55 Homestead Road.

A once-in-a-lifetime membership fee to Veterans Park of $10 per person is required after one free "trial" visit. There is no fee for the Lehigh Acres Edible Gardening Exchange.

A raffle ticket is provided to each member who brings in an item to exchange, whether it be seeds, cuttings, plants, fruit, veggies or a healthy drink or snack. Mingling and snacking will take place after the meeting has ended.

Fund-raiser to benefit CCMI

"A Midsummer Night's Sing" will be held Tuesday, July 24, at the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Myers to benefit CCMI and its Everyday Cafe & Marketplace. Sponsored by the Galloway Family of Dealerships, it is the 15th annual fund-raiser. Last year, residents donated 1,200 pounds of food.

Register to vote at chamber on Saturdays

"FEVRR" will conduct voter registration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays, now through September, in front of the Greater Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce building, located in the Lehigh Town Center on Alabama and Homestead roads. Eligible voters must be U.S. citizens and 17 years or older.
