To the editor:
These days we are celebrating at the flea market a job well done by Lee County government and the Lehigh Acres Fire District with helping us get our flea market up to good shape. We also want to thank those in the surrounding community who helped us in constructive ways to address some of the code violations and to our owner who spent the resources to help with our compliance.
We can't thank enough all those who supported this 50-year old landmark through trying times when some in the community did not see its value and tried various means to close us down, if not permanently.
With this behind us we are now ready to plan for the future. Now we are growing it back to its 60-vendor capacity and look forward to a bright future of family fun, games, food, music and giveaways as the market has been known for in the past.
The flea market was honored to host several of our public officials on July 13.
Our community celebration brought together close to 150 guests who came at noon for our community luncheon. Together with our several guests there was a great lunch served by Good2Go, great music by Miracle Tower and other specials throughout the flea market.
The presence of our state Sen. Lizbeth Benacquisto, as well as our state Rep. Matt Caldwell together with Lee County Commissioners Frank Mann and Ray Judah, was an honor for all of us.
They were able to see the improvements and planned improvements being made at the flea market. We also were honored to see officials from the Lehigh Acres Fire District, as well as the East County Water Control District, join us for this important celebration in the life of the market.
We urge your readers to come see us and maybe even become a part of our vendor family as we now grow again and begin to gear up for the upcoming season.
