Cape Coral police, Lee County sheriff’s deputies and U.S. marshals are searching an area of the Southwest Cape for a homicide suspect out of Broward/Dade counties.

The man, Felipe Torrealba, 28, is believed to be armed and dangerous, Cape police said in a statement released shortly after midnight.

Police have a perimeter established between Southwest 20th Avenue, Chiquita Boulevard, Pine Island Road and Trafalgar Parkway. Police are asking that residents in that area remain inside and notify police if they see anything suspicious.

Marshals had received a tip that Torrealba, who eluded police last week in Lehigh, was in a home in Cape Coral Wednesday evening. He was seen fleeing the home on foot late Wednesday.

Police will advise the public when Torrealba is captured and/or the perimeter has been released, officials said.

No other information has been released.
