A number of health and senior care organizations in Lehigh Acres came together recently to create the Lehigh Acres Health Care Consortium.
Initiated by Joanie Jeannette, chief executive officer of the Lehigh Regional Medical Center, the main objective of the groups is to identify community health care and services needs, share information and work together to address the needs.
The goal is to provide members of the community with the quality of care and services that exceed expectations and set the standard for all Southwest Florida health and senior care services to achieve.
"We have been meeting for about five months, and it is so exciting to discuss our common issues and goals, and each month share our progress," Jeannette said. "Our community will really benefit from the positive initiatives and patient care focus that all members are demonstrating and sharing."
"It is an informal approach, but attendance has been a hundred percent each month, and great things are happening with all the member organizations," she said.
Members at this time include: Lehigh Regional Medical Center, Lehigh Acres Health and Rehabilitation, Sterling House, Fountain Crest Retirement Community, Hope Healthcare Services, Florida Medical Affiliates and the Lehigh Acres Senior Center.
Meetings are held once a month, hosted in rotation at member facilities.
