Charity pool tournament to benefit local 2-year-old

By Staff | Sep 5, 2012

A charity pool tournament, hosted by Turtle Shirts/International Slow Pitch Softball, will be held from noon to 7:35 p.m. Sept. 22 at Mugs-N-Jugs, at 5512 8th St. W.

The fund-raiser will benefit Logan Mendres, 2. Logan began having seizures when he was 3 months old. He has been to various doctors and all have been unable to determine the cause.

He is currently undergoing tests to determine why he continues to suffer from the seizures. Since the onset of his seizures is virtually undetectable, his doctors have suggested that his family obtain a specially trained service dog to detect the seizures.

The estimated cost to purchase a service dog is $20,000, which the family does not have.

At the charity pool tournament, the winner splits the pot up to $150. Bracketed tournament with double elimination.

Turtle Shirts/International Slow Pitch Softball will host additional tournaments for Logan in the future.
