The Lee County Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigation today in an attempt to find a man who tried to rob the 7/11 convenience store at 530 Joel Blvd. in Lehigh Acres. Detectives are asking the public for help in identifying the suspect from a surveillance video.
The robbery occurred shortly after midnight on Monday, Sept. 3 when a man with a gun entered the store and told the clerk that he wanted money.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the clerk said, "He told me he was a nice guy but owes a lot of people money."

Then he demanded for her to hand over the cash in the register.
The suspect was told that she would not give him the money and the suspected lifted his shirt to show he had a black handgun.
At that point, the female clerk told the suspect that she had "pushed the panic button" and he fled the store empty handed.
Sheriff's deputies said they set up a perimeter using K9 assistance and aviation units but the suspect was not found.
Detectives say the man was wearing sunglasses, jeans and a blue sweatshirt.
They are asking the public to see if they can identify the person showed in the surveillance tape.
