Arts of the Inland meeting set
The Arts of the Inland meeting will be held Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. at the Majestic Golf Course Crown Room, at 350 Homestead Road S.
See member artists' work displayed for the Chrysalis Art Show and learn the winners of the best of show, first place, second place and third place. The best of show winner will be submitted to the Art Council of Southwest Florida Winners Circle Biennial Exhibit, from Nov. 16-Dec. 27 at the Alliance for the Arts in Fort Myers.
The featured speaker is Dr. Sandra Fay Mark, president of the Art Council of Southwest Florida. The public is invited.
Free seminars on Medicare planned
UnitedHealthcare, with the support of Care Improvement Plus, AARP, Ameriprise Financial and the National Family Caregivers Association, is hosting two hands-on educational events as part of National Medicare Education Week, Sept. 15-22.
The events are designed to help baby boomers, Medicare beneficiaries and their families, and caregivers learn more about Medicare and how to find the coverage that's best for them.
Attendees can also participate in a hands-on computer workshop to learn about online Medicare resources and how to use popular social media sites to connect with family and friends.
The events will be held Sept. 18 from 10 a.m. to noon and 2-4 p.m. at the Training Domain, at 12761 World Plaza Lane, Unit 2, Fort Myers.

Christ United Methodist to host hymn sing
A free hymn sing will be held Sept. 23 at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary at Christ United Methodist Church, at 1430 Homestead Road. Enjoy the music of the Allen organ and a relaxing afternoon singing your favorite hymns. A freewill offering will be taken.
Youth orchestra scheduling auditions
The Southwest Florida Youth Orchestra is conducting auditions. The audition are open to students 21 and under.
This year, the program will be expanded to include a full intermediate orchestra - the concert orchestra - which will be conducted by Roland Forti. Nanette Grant will continue to work with the sinfonietta, a string ensemble for less experienced players.
The advanced students will perform in the full youth symphony and have the opportunity to participate in chamber ensembles such as a string quartet, brass quintet, woodwind quartet and percussion ensemble. The ensembles are coached by members of the Southwest Florida Symphony.

Register to vote at Lehigh chamber
"FEVRR" will conduct voter registration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays, now through September, in front of the Greater Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce building, located in the Lehigh Town Center on Alabama and Homestead roads. Eligible voters must be U.S. citizens and 17 years or older.
ABWA announces fund raising events
The Lehigh Acres chapter of ABWA is planning the following upcoming events:
- Flocking with Pink Flamingos: For $15, we will "flock" your front yard with 10 pink flamingos. We also have the option of doing 20 flamingos at $30. You can also add balloons if you wish for a small additional fee. The fund-raiser helps the scholarship fund. To flock someone, contact Vicki Culver at 369-1168.
- The chapter also is collecting donations of notebooks and journals for the PACE Center for Girls in Fort Myers.
- Oct. 27: Lights, Camera, Fashion will be held at the Colonial Country Club, at 9175 Independence Way, Fort Myers. An annual fashion show that supports the education fund for scholarships for Lehigh Acres residents. Luncheon starts at 11:30 a.m. and will include a fashion show, silent auction and Chinese auction. Fashions provided by Denimianco Boutique and Pinkies Boutique, with jewelry by Parklane. There will be celebrity look-a-likes. Cost is $25. For tickets, call Joan Adler-Gordon at 789-9100.
Youth screening set
A pediatric screening for speech, language, hearing and motor skills for children is scheduled Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Wee Play Therapy, at 904 Lee Blvd., Unit 106.
A fee of $20 will be required for a child to receiving the screening tests. If a child is identified as needing services and you enroll for therapy at Wee Play Therapy, the $20 fee will be returned.
American Legion plans remembrance ceremony
The American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 323 will present its annual POW/ MIA/ KIA ceremony Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. at the post, at 1124 Ashlar Ave. The ceremony is open to the public.
Keynote speaker for the ceremony will be Lois McFall, second vice president of the American Legion Auxiliary Department of Florida. For additional information, contact the post at 369-3178.
Traham to address writers' group
Russell Trahan, owner and president of PR Public Relations, will address the Gulf Coast Writers Association Sept. 15 at 10 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall, at the Zion Lutheran Church, at 7401 Winkler Road.
He will advise writers on how to use media to increase the sale of their books through use of the following public relations techniques: online displays, attention getting press releases, promotional speech and magazine articles.
The Writers Association has members in Lehigh Acres.
Chamber to host networking event
The Greater Lehigh Area Chamber of Commerce will host a free breakfast-for-members networking event from 7:30-8:30 a.m. Sept. 13 at the Hodges-Farley Funeral Home, at 1100 Lee Blvd.
Members can build connections and develop leads at the networking event. Those who would like to become members of the chamber are invited, but they must call 369-3322 to RSVP.
