In August, contractors pulled 41 permits to build single-family houses collectively valued at more than $13.3 million in unincorporated Lee County. That compares to 63 permits issued in July and 37 issued in August 2011, according to the Lee County Department of Community Development.
Seventeen multi-family units were permitted in August compared to four in July and 18 in August 2011. Twenty new commercial permits were valued at nearly $20.3 million, compared to nearly $3.7 million in July and nearly $10.8 million in August 2011.
During August, Lee County Community Development issued 2,737 permits of all kinds for a total of 19,425 for the year to date.
