By Staff | Oct 3, 2012

Lehigh Acres resident Mike Swords has begun serving as Rotary International assistant governor for Area 6 for a three-year term.

Swords will assist local Rotary Clubs with community and international service projects and provide individual leadership assigned by District Gov. Nominee Pete Doragh. He serves as part of the leadership committee for the district and has begun training for the assistant governor position.

Swords will be one of 11 Rotarians in District 6960 serving as an assistant governor. A member of the Rotary Club of Lehigh Acres for four years, he will also be responsible for organizing and strengthening the Lehigh group.

The main objective of Rotary International is service in the community and throughout the world. With more than 1.2 million members in 34,000 clubs worldwide, Rotarians are volunteers who work to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace and eradicate polio under the motto, “Service Above Self.”
