More single-family permits pulled in Lee County during September

During September, contractors pulled 55 permits to build single-family houses, collectively valued at more than $15.3 million in unincorporated Lee County.

That compares to 41 permits issued in August and 27 issued in September 2011, according to the Lee County Department of Community Development.

For the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, permitting for single-family residences was up 30 percent over the previous fiscal year. Permitting for multi-family residences was up 9 percent over fiscal year 2011.

During September, 18 multi-family units were permitted, compared to 29 in August and 74 in September 2011.

General commercial activity was valued at nearly $507,375, compared to more than $16.5 million in August and more than $6.5 million in September 2011.

During September, Lee County Community Development issued 2,635 permits of all kinds for a total of 31,314 for the fiscal year to date, up 4.5 percent over fiscal year 2011.

Lee County Community Development oversees planning, zoning, development and building services, environmental review, building inspection, and code enforcement for the unincorporated areas of Lee County.
