The Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District responded to a single family dwelling fire at 5 p.m. on Oct. 24.
Upon arrival, crews made entry into the home to find a fire and contained it to the room of origin, said Ken Bennett, assistant chief of administration and fire marshal. The address of the fire was not listed in the report from the fire department.
At the time of the fire, the house was unoccupied. No injuries were reported. A family of four has been temporarily displaced as a result of the fire. The Red Cross is assisting with temporary living conditions, Bennett said.
No structural damage was noted with the fire with damage estimated at approximately $20,000 to repair, Bennett said.
The State Fire Marshal's office was requested to assist with the investigation. Due to the suspicious nature of this fire and the investigation conducted, the fire has been ruled as arson, Bennett said.
