SW Florida International reports September traffic

During September, 354,640 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport, an increase of 0.8 percent compared to September 2011. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is down 4.5 percent from the same period last year.

The traffic leader in September was Delta with 85,188 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were AirTran (55,419), Southwest (51,471), JetBlue (43,139) and US Airways (36,405).

Southwest Florida International Airport had 4,273 aircraft movements - takeoffs and landings - a decrease of 3.1 percent compared to September 2011. Page Field saw 5,906 movements, a 12.8 percent increase from September 2011.

In addition, more than 2.5 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in September 2012, a decrease of 2.7 percent compared to September 2011.

Southwest Florida International Airport served more than 7.5 million passengers in 2011 and is one of the top 50 U.S. airports for passenger traffic. No ad valorem, or property, taxes are used for airport operation or construction.
